Hi Nadia: Thanks for your take on the poem...I'm sorry to hear that you thought it was a bit depressing. I know this subject can be a bit of a downer, but based on the poems that I've heard from Billy Collins, he seems to have a whimsical take on very ordinary topics. I can really identify with forgetting details from books that I've read. I also remember a lot of times in college where I memorized a huge amount of information for an exam only to forget everything a week or two later. I do agree with you about training the brain. In recent years, I've amazed myself many times as I've learned new things for jobs or other things. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Hi Tim,

Interesting poem...kind of depressing but interesting. The video was really cool too.

We do live in a world where there is so much information but I also think our brains are capable of absorbing it all. I look at the brain as a muscle. Train it to do more and it will. Science has proven that the brain can be trained to hold certain perceptions and beliefs.

It boils down to attitude. At least, that is my opinion at this moment. :)

Hope all is well!

Hi Lori: I'm really glad you liked it...I really think the video added a lot to the experience. I think the poem really spoke to me, as well...with all of the information out there, it seems like it's becoming harder and harder to remember it all. Just as an aside, I had never heard of Billy Collins until Taylor Mali mentioned it on his blog several years back. It turns out that Mr. Mali is a huge Billy Collins fan. Now that I've had a chance to experience his witty poems, too, I think I'm becoming a fan as well. I hope you're having a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Wow, Tim, this was really amazing.

I hadn't heard of Billy Collins -- I haven't been much of a poetry geek until this year, really, so thank for pointing me in this direction.

As far as *this* poem, it really affected me. And, the video set to the words was amazingly perfect with the words being spoken.

I really love art, and putting graphics to words (I think you know this), so thanks for stimulating the creative centers of my brain today, Tim. I need all I can get!

Have a kick-butt week and thanks for all your work here at your blog!
:)
