Celebrating One Year on WordPress

September 17, 2010

The WordPress version of 360 Degree Self turns one today. Exactly one year ago I took the leap and switched to WordPress from the Blogger version. While the switch in blogging platforms was a major change for me and required a lot of technical tinkering, I believe that the biggest change was an improvement in my writing and quality of content – at least that was my intention.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has spent time here, watched some videos, re-tweeted or commented and participated in various discussions over the past year. I sincerely feel honored that you’ve stopped by and have helped create a small sense of community here. I love hearing from all of you and connecting via this blog or on Twitter. It really makes the world seem smaller and more friendly.

As you may have noticed, I am in the process of tweaking the design here and playing with the colors. It has truly been a do-it-yourself process for me…but thanks to Lori at Jane Be Nimble, my header looks absolutely great! Lori, I still can’t thank you enough for your help in the creation of the header and your support here.

Moving forward, I still plan to write about things that make us well-rounded…but I want to, as Emeril Lagasse says, “kick it up a notch.” I’m working to slowly dismantle the Blogger version of this blog. Because of how I set it up the comments, it has been difficult to monitor and I imagine there are probably some interesting spam comments that I haven’t removed yet. You may also see me re-post a few things that are considered a “best of.” I’m doing this mostly to keep a sort of archive going.

I wanted to leave you with a video that I discovered today. R & B crooner John Legend will soon be releasing a CD with a hip-hop group known as The Roots. You can sample the entire CD on NPR.org or pick it up when it gets released on September 21. While I’m not familiar with the Roots, I was blown away by their cinematic video from earlier this year. I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

Hi Tim!
Give me a woot woot! Look how far you’ve come in such a short time. Your Theme is lookin’ good, Tim. I like your words about kicking it up a notch, that tells me you’re enjoying the ride and that your want even more out of your blogging journey.

I’m with Lance and Walter, I’m looking forward to more posts from you. Huge thanks for the link love, too, Tim. It was so much fun implementing your ideas for a header and making them come to life for you. I hope you won’t hesitate to ask me if you want to bounce around more ideas. I enjoy seeing your soar!

Hi Walter: Thanks for the good wishes and your support…I certainly have some good things planned ahead.

Hi Lance: Thanks for your support both today and back in the “early days.” Please know that your blog has been a big influence on me…aside from all of the great thought provoking content, I still flash back to your video of mixing food and various liquids in a blender and watching you drink it. Ha. Thank you for your friendship, as well!

Hi Lori: Thank you for your kind words and your support here. Like Lance, you’ve been a huge influence on me and your blog is an oasis of great ideas and positive energy. And you are right about my desire to continue to grow…I look at blogging as a work in progress and something that continues to evolve like me, like all of us. Anyhow, I have a feeling I may bounce a few ideas off you before long. Take care and have a great weekend!

Hi Tim,

Congrats on the move and happy belated first b-day on wordpress:)

Your banner looks awesome, and in a way with no surprise as Lori’s work is so awesome! I am so happy for you to have had her help with the design.

I personally love wordpress, although I am sure there are some things that can be improved, overall I have loved it as the platform for my sites as well.

So to many more wonderful years and content, as your writing and personal journey continue to unfold….

Hi Evita: Thank you for the good wishes. Yeah, it is amazing in the world of blogging on how we lean on other bloggers – for friendship, support, feedback, design help, etc. You’re right about Lori’s awesome design skills. And I can I identify what you said about WordPress. Not perfect, but it has allowed me to do so much more than I did on the old Blogger platform. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to reading more on Evolving Beings!
