Making Lemonade II

October 5, 2010

You might remember last summer I included the trailer for a very important documentary, Lemonade. Written and produced by Eric Proulx, it focused on how several laid off advertising professionals bounced back to create a better job, a better life situation and most importantly, greater happiness. Truth be told, it’s a very uplifting documentary whether you work in advertising or not.

Eric Proulx is back with the follow up to that documentary called Lemonade: Detroit. There’s no doubt that our country and especially cities like Detroit have been hit with some very difficult times. Here in Chicago, I’ve run into several Detroit area transplants that lament the state of that city, but also talk about the city with fondness.

I love the fact that this documentary reminds us about what is possible, not only in Detroit, but in challenged cities across our country.

Tim,
I watched this video over the weekend – and thought the very same thing. It’s easy to look at certain place (i.e. Detroit) and see the bad. And when we do this – we miss all the amazing good that is going on, too. That’s what I just loved about this video – how it reminds me to see beyond the surface…and to believe that – no matter what – we can make a difference…

Thanks for sharing this here – it really is such a wonderful message of hope!

Hi Tim,
This video was sooo great! I’m getting misty…
Thanks for sharing. I loved that they are taking on the charge to grow their own food w/i the city limits. I love the hope shared by the video. I agree with Lance, no matter what, we can make a difference — one small thing at a time adds up to big things. Step by step.
Loved this, Tim. 🙂

Hi Lance: Yep, I agree. Among all of the abandonment and negativity, there is certainly hope. That’s what I really enjoy about the first Lemonade movie and anticipate is part of this one, too. Lance, thanks for stopping by!

Hi Lori: You hit on something that is key – making a difference. I think a lot of people feel beaten down by the “system” and feel very helpless about things. But this trailer is a reminder that it certainly is possible to make a difference no matter where we live and what our situation is. Thanks for adding your comment here and have a good one!
