Weekend Musical Diversion: Shop Vac

December 4, 2010

I don’t know a whole lot about Jonathan Coulton, but I was recently sucked into a video for the song “Shop Vac.” Not knowing whether this was a commercial or song, my curiosity told me to investigate a little closer.  One view of this video, I was entertained by the typography animation and the catchy-ness of the song, itself.  I was also very amused.  I hope you will be too as you watch this and feel free to check out his site for more musical mischief…

Hi Tim,
You probably already know this, but I LOVED THIS VIDEO! It’s so creative, and has such an important deeper meaning. It really hit me when I heard the lines about not hearing the crying because he was downstairs and the shop vac was too loud. Seriously…wild stuff and crazy times we’re living now.

Excellent pick, Tim, this video’s imagery and lyrics really got me thinking.
Have a great weekend.

What a FUN video, Tim!!! I loved it, too!!

…and I think I have a project around here where I might just have to get that shop vac out…

Hi Lori: I’m glad you enjoyed the vid…this one really captured my attention and brought a smile to my face. I’m not sure if this video is considered “official,” but the creativity displayed in it reminds me of other notable viral videos by the band OK GO. I’m glad it’s getting a lot of attention because I think it’s really clever. I hope you had a good weekend and that you have a good week ahead!

Hi Lance: Ha ha…glad you liked the video. I can picture you at work in your basement working on some home improvement projects and using your Shop Vac. While I don’t own a shop vac, I do own a vacuum that has great suction and is very loud. Hmm…maybe I can write a song about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
